Travel Information Signs
Trip Information Signs ( TIS ) are one of many electronic media, used as part of the Drive Time Information System by VicRoads within the State of Victoria. The system, provides real-time traffic density and travel time information on Melbourne’s freeway network to road users. These large format signs are manufactured by Compusign to comply with VicRoads Specifications. The Signs shown where part of the Geelong Freeway Renewal Project. Compusign was responsible for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of the signs, sign supports and footings.

The TIS have been designed to provide changeable numerical estimate of the travel times to nominated exits and color coded indicators of traffic congestion levels for those specified sections on the freeway. The travel time is constantly updated via remote communication links. And accordingly, the traffic volume will be indicated by the different colors of the arrow, indicating light, medium and heavy congestion levels of traffic, and a closed section of the freeway by displaying a flashing red arrow.
